There are many things we could do to significantly aide those in need without it digging into our pocket too much. We could legalize medicinal and recreational marijuana use on a federal level. Colorado alone is expected to bring in about 70 million THIS YEAR. 40 million of which is going to education. It's also been found that they've saved money in courts dealing with drug offenses.
The following is an excerpt from a paper written by Jeffery A. Miron and Katherine Waldock:
"With everybody bitching about the economy and nobody able to agree on a fix, things are getting a little heated in the big US of A. We have the poor taking advantage of and misusing government aid, we have the rich elite running their mouths on taxes, and we have the middle class... just kidding, no we don't.

It's been concluded that the US government would make about 8.7 billion dollars in federal and state revenue."
Taking this small step could potentially fix our national debt, if we played our cards right. The question is... how badly do we want it?
